At least the driving posture is upright and there are no substantial blind-spots to contend with. Automatic temperature control with three zones, ambient lighting, a 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, and heated front seats are all included as standard equipment in every model.
Engine
The 5.6-liter aluminum-alloy V8 engine is an old-school engine, but it has modern features like variable valve management to keep it relevant. This eight-cylinder monster generates 400 horsepower and 413 pounds-feet of torque. Because it is a naturally-aspirated motor, peak torque is only reached at a speed of 4,000 revolutions per minute. Its 6,000-rpm redline is reached with little effort, but in daily driving, the QX80 delivers plenty of torque from low to high revs.
The QX80 has a sprightly feel about it thanks to the lack of turbo lag, and the throttle response is good right out of the gate. The QX80 is a joy to drive in traffic and a joy to cruise on the highway; it’s an excellent all-around performer. The 7-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control is electronically managed and may provide power to either the rear or all four wheels. Since Nissan’s newest nine-speed gearbox is smoother and more responsive, this transmission has been around for a while.
2024 Infiniti QX80 Release Date and Price
That the Infiniti flagship SUV costs a lot of money isn’t surprising given the brand’s focus on luxury vehicles and its vehicle pricing. The MSRP for a new Infiniti QX80 is $69,050, which includes tax, registration, and a $1,395 destination charge. The cost is $72,150 for the AWD variant of the basic vehicle. The mid-range Premium Select costs $73,350, increasing to $76,450 for the AWD version, while the top-spec Sensory costs $80,200 in RWD form and rises to $83,300 for the AWD version. The Sensory costs well over $90,000 to outfit completely.
