New 2023 Infiniti QX55 Interior Colors, Specs – Those who grew up with the Infiniti FX will be delighted by the resemblance. The compact QX50 luxury crossover SUV is getting a coupe makeover in the form of the all-new, first-ever 2023 Infiniti QX55. At first glance, the QX55 may appear to be a brand-new model with a sleeker exterior, but it shares many of its underpinnings with its more conventionally styled sibling. There’s no reason to doubt Infiniti’s claim that the QX55 is “a statement-maker.” Because of its distinctive roofline, the luxury Japanese brand likes to refer to the QX55 as the “spiritual successor” to the FX. It will be a great addition to this rapidly expanding market segment, which is luring buyers away from more traditional luxury coupes and sedans and toward electric vehicles. Today, the QX55 is serving as the primary spokesperson for Infiniti’s efforts to restore its brand image and product line. German counterparts? The future will tell.
Redesign
Now 20-year-old FX. The origami-inspired mesh pattern on the double-arch grille of the 2023 QX55 fits right in with the rest of today’s Infiniti lineup. The black accents around the fog lights complete the look. The clamshell hood, a styling choice made to better integrate the shunt lines to the front fenders, is one notable design feature. An additional four-link hinge attaches the hood to the A-pillar of the vehicle. The sloping roofline and the “piano key” taillights, which feature 45 individual LEDs, blend seamlessly at the rear. 20-inch wheels and a choice of eight exterior colors, including Dynamic Sunstone Red and Slate Gray. These include chrome-framed windows, dual exhaust diffusers, and a body-colored lower rear fascia. “
Interior
Again, the work of Japanese artists played a significant role in the design of interiors. Despite the fact that the QX55 shares many styling cues with the QX50, Infiniti made sure to give it its own distinct look. Graphite and Monaco Red/Graphite semi-aniline leather are just two examples of the many color combinations available. As part of the Luxe trim, leatherette upholstery and dark brushed aluminum trim are both included. To help alleviate fatigue, “Zero Gravity” front seats come standard. Throughout the cabin, the sensory trim features open-pore wood. Additionally, all three QX55 trim levels (Luxe, Essential, and Sensory) feature a dual HD touchscreen display and wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity. Android Auto can be accessed via a USB port, but only if the phone is plugged into the system. Additionally, a 16-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system and a 9-inch windshield image are available as optional features.
Engine
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in every QX55 is rated at 268 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, regardless of the model’s trim level. It’s also the first mass-produced variable compression engine in the world to date. The engine’s compression ratio can be adjusted between 14:1 and 8:1 to maximize fuel economy without sacrificing performance. Standard, Eco, and Personal driving modes are available. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) shifts by wire and sends power to the intelligent all-wheel-drive system as a single gearbox option. To help with traction, the system can send up to 50% of the engine’s available power to the back wheels. In order to provide precise handling and a comfortable ride, the vehicle is equipped with four-wheel independent suspension and Body Control Motion technology.
Release Date and Price
For the 2023 QX55, Infiniti has not released official pricing, but we expect it to cost more than the QX50, which starts at $37,950. Starting at $45,000, we estimate the QX55 will arrive in Infiniti showrooms across the country in spring 2023. The BMW X4, Mercedes GLC, Audi Q3 Sportback, and Range Rover Evoque have long established themselves in the compact luxury crossover coupe segment. When put up against any of these devices, the QX55 has a good chance of coming out on top in terms of design. Infiniti may soon see a resurgence in sales of the FX, which is good news for current and former owners.
